Getting Started

Installation

Quick answer
Prism is a single binary with no runtime dependencies. Windows ships a per-user MSI that needs no administrator prompt, plus a portable executable; macOS ships a signed and notarised DMG; Linux ships a portable AppImage and a tarball. Every release publishes each artifact twice, once version-stamped and once under a stable unversioned alias.

Download

Grab the latest release from GitHub. Both the version-stamped name and the unversioned alias resolve to the same file, so either URL keeps working across releases.

Windows installer (per-user MSI)

The MSI installs for the current user only. There is no UAC elevation, no machine-wide service, and no administrator involvement.

PropertyValue
Install directory%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Prism
Install stateHKCU\Software\Prism (InstallType, InstallDir, InstalledVersion)
ShortcutStart Menu entry, created on install
ElevationNone — per-user package
UpdatesIn-app, applied with msiexec
UninstallRemoves the app; keeps %APPDATA%\prism so your config and stats survive
Upgrading an older install
Windows requires installer versions to increase. Prism stamps each MSI with the release version so an upgrade over an existing install is accepted, and it adopts a stale auto-start entry rather than leaving two pointing at different paths.

First run

1

Launch Prism

Run the installed app or the portable binary. A tray icon appears immediately and the proxy starts on 127.0.0.1:11434. Nothing else is required.
2

Open the Admin UI

Go to http://127.0.0.1:8765/admin. The Connect tab shows the live service URLs and the shared token.
3

Add a provider

In the Provider tab, add Ollama Cloud, OpenCode Go, a custom OpenAI-compatible provider, or a Codex account via OAuth. See Provider Setup.
4

Connect an agent

Go to the Agents tab, find your installed agent, and click Setup. Prism backs up the existing config and writes the right one. See Agent Integrations.
